Total cross section measurements were carried out for chromium, cobalt and zirconium in the energy range from 3 MeV to 1 eV. The measurements were performed using the time-of-flight spectrometer installed in front of one of the horizontal channels of the ET-RR-1 reactor. The cross section for chromium is well matched by the relation sigma /sub t/ = STA(3.13 plus or minus 0.05) + (0.52 plus or minus 0.01)E-/sup 1/ 2/ ! barn, and for cobalt sigma /sub t/ = STA(7.20 plus or minus 0.06) + (6.18 plus or minus 0.03)E/sup -1/2/! barn. The measured cross section for zirconium is found to be energy independent and fluctuates near a constant value sigma /sub t/ = (6.80 plus or minus 0.10) barn. Values for absorption and potential scattering cross section were obtained. Crystal structure effects were observed in cases of chromium and zirconium. (GE)
