DECORATION OF THE DISLOCATION LINES BY PRECIPITATES IN AN ALUMINUM-4% COPPER ALLOY AGED AT 250 C (in French)

Journal Article · · Compt. rend.
OSTI ID:4331648
In an alloy brought back to 250 deg C for 15 min after tempering, the beginning of the precipitation of the Al/sub 2/Cu ( theta ') phase can be detected in the joints of the grain, along the slip lines, and at the multiplicative sources of dislocations. The calculation shows that the constraints of tempering extend slightly the limit of elasticity. (tr-auth) In a preceding article (Compt. rend. 246, 425(1958)) it is shown that the electric resistivity at very low temperatures shows a particular form of the precipitation of carbon dissolved in the alpha -iron after aging at 67 deg C. It is shown that for higher temperatures of aging the precipitation is made in two stages. This phenomenon is particularly clear in the neighborhood of 150 deg C. (tr-auth)
