The reaction of Th/sup 4+/ ions with florein was investigated. A complex with the ratio 1:1 is formed in acid medium. By means of the numerical analysis of ihe dependence of the absorbence curve on the concentration A = f(c/ sub Th//sub cR,pH=constant/, which was carried out wth the help of a digltal computer and by means of the Job method of continuous variation, the values of the limiting stability constants were determined. In weakly acid perchlorate medium the stability of the complex at pH values of 2.5 to 3 was shown as optimum and allows the use of florein as a metallochromic indicator the visual Th titration of violet rose into yellow. The method is sufficiently precise and selective and permits the determination of 1 mg of Th in 100 ml solution. (tr- auth)
