The kinetic isotope effect in the reaction of fluorine atoms with H/sub 2/ and D/sub 2/ was measured as a function of reaction temperature in the essed as an Arrhenius type equation: k/sub F+H2/ K/sub F+D2/= (1.04 plus or minus 0.02) expSTA(370 plus or minus 10)/RT!. Experimental were carried out in a flow system with direct of reaction products. Fluorine atoms are produced by dissociating SF/sub 6/ or CF/sub 4/ in a microwave discharge. (auth)
