A schematic phase diagram is shown for the Ni-Ni/sub 3/Ti-Ni/sub 3/Al-- Cr alloy at 1000 deg . The cross section of the Ni--Cr-Ti--Al alloy in the limited solid solution of nickel ( gamma ) and the two phase ( gamma + gamma ') was investigated for constant content of Cr(17%) and Ti(1.8%) and varying content of Al(0 to 12%). The thermal analysis showed the crystullization of the eutectic composition of the alloy at 1280 deg with 9% Al. The solubility of Al in the solid solution of the Ni-Cr-Ti-Al was found with 6 and 8% Al at 1200 deg , for nearly 6% Al at 1050 deg , and with 4 to 6% Al at 900 deg . The increase of the Al content in the quaternary solid solution of Ni(with 17 to 20% Cr and 1.8 to 2.4% Ti) sharply increased its heat resistance. The alloy with 6.40% Al was tested at 900 deg and 8 kg/mm/sup 2/ tension for 1000 hr and did not show disintegration even under a further test with 12 kg/mm/sup 2/ for 100 hr. (R.V.J.)
