ESTIMATED INTERNAL PRESSURES IN FAST OXIDE BREEDER FUEL ELEMENTS DUE TO FISSION GAS RELEASE
An estimate of the increase in the internal pressure of the KAPL Plutonium Power Breeder Reactor fuel pins due to the accumulation of fission gases was made for ranges of specific power, fuel burnup, and fuel density. Families of curves are presented which show the variation of internal pressure with fuel diameter for various values of the parameters listed above. Allowable upper limits on fuel diameter have been determined for the various cases considered as a function of the volume fraction of cladding iron present in the core region. (auth)
