OSTI ID:4329442
An acceptable method is described for determining for sites along streams or rivers the design basis floods that nuclear power plants must be designed to withstand without loss of safety-related functions. The phenomena producing comparable design basis floods for coastal, estuary, and Great Lakes sites are discussed, The design requirements for flood protection are not included. The Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards has been consulted concerning this guide and has concurred in the regulatory position. (auth)
