EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF $alpha$ DECAY OF ELEMENTS OF INTERMEDIATE ATOMIC WEIGHT (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Doklady Akad. Nauk S.S.S.R.
OSTI ID:4329440
Examinations were made of the alpha decay in the isotope atomic weight range N = 82 to 126. The alpha -active isotopes were formed from the bombardment of Er, Yb, and Hf by 70 to 660 Mev protons. The shont lived alpha - active isotopes were bombarded in a cyclotron for a period of 2 hr, and the long lived ones for 3 months. Only pure, chromatographically separated fractions were used in the experiment. The chromatograms of the BETA and alpha activities and tables of the resulting materials are presented. The energies of Tb/sup 149/ and Dy/sup 152/ were measured with a multichannel ionization chamber followed by measurements with scintillation alpha counter; the energies for Gd/sup 148/, Dy/sup 153/, and Hf(?) were determined from the tracks in thin layer (50 mu ) photoplates..
