The different stages of the nuclear fuel cycle are recalled. Only the commercial aspects of the first stage leading to the sale of high U content concentrates and UF/sub 6/ are then considered. The natural uranium concentrates market is currently dominated by the USA and several large world producers. It is not expected that the natural U consumption will exceed the production capacities of already existing plants and envisaged plants (combined estimate of from 30 to 40,000 tons per year) before 1976. This situation is reflected by the recent drop in price (8 to 6 dollars per pound of U/sub 3/O/sub 8/) for deliveries between 1972 and 1978. (FR)
