Dissociation of the (HeH)$sup +$ molecular ion using elliptic-type orbitals

Detailed studies on the electron impact dissociation of the HeH/sup +/ molecular ion produced by the X/sup 1/ SIGMA -A/sup 1/ SIGMA transition wer e made using the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. For these calculations, accurate Harris-type elliptic orbitals for the electronic states of HeH/sup +/ ion were used, which include the effects or distortion polarization due to the heteronuclearity of the ion. The angular distribution of the dissociation fragments and the total dissociation cross section were computed as functions of the incident electron energy. The results obtained show no striking feature due to the heteronuclearity of the molecular ion. Suggestions for further work in this line are given. (auth)
