Model plants representing three major types of glass furnaces were selected, and typical process parameters identified. A computer aided performance analysis was conducted including thermal (heat transfer) and process (kinetic) modeling. Conceptual designs were developed and served as the basis for the economic analysis. Gas reburn and alternative NOx control technologies were compared on a $ per ton NOx abated basis.
