Application of high energy heavy charged particles to medicine (in Russian)

The biological effectiveness and the methods and techniques of irradiation with heavy charged particles are examined. The advantages which can be obtained by use of heavy charged particles in radiation therapy and radioneurosurgery are discussed. The characteristics of the dose distribution and the biological effects of different radiations are considered. An evaluation is made of the future of heavy charged particlea in medicine. A review is presented on the world data on present uses of heavy charged particles. (tr- auth)
