ON THE SIZE DISTRIBUTION OF EXTENSIVE ATMOSPHERIC SHOWERS (in Russian)

Experimental data pertaining to the distribution of atmospheric showers with respect to the number of particles are presented for particle numbers ranging from 10/sup 5/ to 2 x 10/sup 6/. An analysis of these data and the published data available indicates that when the number of particles lies between 10sup 6/ and 10/sup 7/ there is probably an irregularity in the shower size distribution curve. This is considered as an indication of the metagalactic origin of cosmic rays with energies>10//sup 16/ ev. (tr-auth)
