BS>An experimental extrusion of an arc melted Bureau of Mines sponge Hf billet to a cruciform shape was unsuccessful. While the use of arc melted sponge Hf in the fabrication of control rods by extrusion does not appear feasible, additional experimental work is felt necessary to provide a more conclusive evaluation.
