Results in mutation breeding of wheat (in Czech)

Journal Article · · Genet. Slechteni, v. 46, no. 4, pp. 253-260
OSTI ID:4325335
Gamma rays, x rays, or EMS were applied to seeds of seven winter wheat varieties. Frequencies of induced mutations for mildew resistance were found between 0.01 to 0.16, for stripe rust resistance 0.01, and for leaf rust resistance 0.005 mutations per 100 M2 plants. Improved quality of grain occurred at 0.03 and improved yield of grain at 0.004 to 0.0079 frequencies. Mutation rates of diverse morphological mutations are summarized. All the useful mutations exercised a pleiotropic effect, or had concomitant deleterious mutations. (auth)
