Duality, dual models, and experiment (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Usp. Fiz. Nauk, v. 111, no. 1, pp. 29-86
The review is devoted to the systematic discussion of the basic concepts and consequences of duality and the Veneziano model for two-particle and multiparticle processes. Attempts are made to answer the question of whether dual models can be examined as a first approximation for the description of strong interactions. The qualitative consequences of the basic assumptions of duality and their thorough comparison with experimental data are discussed. The basic theoretical assumptions of duality, the different concrete varianis of the dual models, and their applicability to observed experimental data are examined. The difficulties encountered in ihe subsequent development of the concept of duality are discussed.
