Hospital plan for emergency handling of radiation accident cases

In health physics in the healing arts. The plan adopted by the University of Florida's Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinics for coping with irradiated and/or contaminated patients in the event of radiation accidents utilizes an existing trauma room in the hospital emergency room. Under the plan, contamination control is achieved by establishing contamination boundaries and restricting the patient and attending personnel to designated areas. Staffing of the plan utilizes emergency room personnel, nadiation control personnel, and the radiology residents. (auth)
