The recovery of uranium minerals by gravity methods has proved very incfficient for low-grade ores. By treating the ore to a state of fineness wherein the mineral particles are freed from the gangue material. Then, first forming an aqueous pulp (having added the required reagents before, during or after the subdividing process) and subjecting the mixture to agitation and aeration in a froth flotation cell, a froth rich in uranium minerals is obtained. The reagents comprise an insoluble and unsaponifiable hydrocarbon oil (e.g. fuel oil) emulsified with an anionic water soluble emulsifying agent (e.g. sulphonated castor oil), and stabilized with an oil soluble stabilizing agent (cresylic acid).
