Mechanics of two-phase systems

Journal Article · · Progr. Heat Mass Transfer, v. 6, pp. 633-649

From international symposium on two-phase systems; Haifa, Israel (29 Aug 1971). See CONF-710836-. Problems related to defining the mechanics of two- phase systems, i.e., the average dynamic properties of disordered mixtures of a general type, are discussed. Important types of two-phase systems are categorized as fluid in a solid matrix, gas dispersed in a liquid, solid or liquid particles dispersed in a gas, and solid or liquid particles dispersed in a liquid. General guidelines for future basic research on two-phase systems are presented in the hope that simple concepts for explaining the physics of two- phase systems can be developed, (LCL)
