EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES ON HEAT TRANSFER AND FLUID FLOW. Quarterly Progress Report No. 1 for January 1 to March 31, 1958

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4317993
A series of rocket-nozzle flow-separation and transpiration-cooling tests at a stagnation-gas temperature of 500 deg F were completed for stagnation chamber pressures of separation process may be more abrupt for hot-gas flow than for cold-gas flow, and that transpiration-cooling of the nozzle wall is extremely effective in lowering the wall temperature. Equipment which is being prepared for the determination of heat-transfer properties of a cryogenic fluid in the critical region is described. (auth)
