Determination of plutonium in urine

Journal Article · · Radiol. Prot. Bull., no. 6, pp. 18-20
OSTI ID:4315021
An outline summary is given of an NRPB development of a new method of determining Pu in urine. The chemical manipulations take 2 to 3 h. It was known that quadrivalent Pu binds to transferrin in solutions of pH) 6. This serum protein, m.w. 88,000, was easily filtered from aqueous solutions with appropriate membranes, filtration time being decreased by the use of a membrane of larger pore size, an improvement being made on yields obtained by filtering off species normally present in Pu bearing urine.
