The specific heat C/sub p/ of crystalline LiF is determined th the temperature range from 317 to 658 deg K using a method previously described (V. A. Sokolov, Zhur. Tekh. Fiz. 18, 813(1948)). The data obtained fit, within an average error of 0.25%, the relation C/sub p/ (cal/ deg mol) = ment was made nf the enthalpy of LiF in the interval 673 to 1410 deg K. The results are expressed by the equations: HT - Hb/sub 293.16/(cal/mol)= 10.00 T + 2 217 x 10/sup -3/ T/ sup 2/ + 122176 T - 3539 (solid phase) and H/sub T - H/sub 293.16/ = 32 + 15.175 T (1128 to 1410 deg K; liquid phase). DELTA H/sub m/ = 6477, DELTA S/sub m/ = 5.78 entropy units. The standard values are: H/sub 298.16/ = 1548 cal/mol and S/ sub 298.16/= 8.53 entropy units. The values of C/sub p/, H, S, and Z are calculated in the range 50 to 1400 deg K and tabulated.
