The levels of the deformed nucleus /sup 165/Tm were studied both by BETA decay and by heavy-ion in-beam gamma -ray spectroscopy. In addition to confirming the four lowest bands 1/2 + {411}, 7/2 + {402} and {523}, and 1/2 - {541}, evidencc is obtained for the 5/2 + {402} and 3/2 + {411} bands, and many other higher levels. Several higher member of the ground band are shifted in energy from eariler proposals. Comparison is made with theory both with regard to rotational spacing parameter and to band-head energies.
