STRUCTURE OF EXTENSIVE AIR SHOWERS AT SEA LEVEL (in Russian)

The lateral distribution of electrons and nuclearactive and nuclear- passive particles in extensive air showers containing from 4 x 10/sup 4/ to 4 x 10/sup 5/ particles at sea level was studied with correlated hodoscopes. The experimental data indicate that high energy nuclear active particles which determine the development of the shower exist in extensive air showers in the lower layers of the atmosphere. The energy flux of the shower is concentrated in a small region possessing a small radius of the order of several meters from the axis of the extensive air shower. (tr-auth)
