APPLICATION OF DISPERSION RELATIONS TO S-WAVE MESON-NUCLEON SCATTERING

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D

Relativistic dispersion relations derived by Chew et al. are used to study the energy dependence of the S-wave phase shifts in low-energy meson- nucleon scattering. We carry out an S- and P-wave analysis and an S-, P-, and Dwave analysis under the assumption that the (3,3) resonance dominates the dispersion integral. Taking more accurately into account the recoil effects of the nucleon improves the agreement of the energy dependence of the S-wave phase shifts with experiment. The P-wave scattering lengths are determined numerically. (auth)
