A STUDY OF THE HODOSCOPE CHAMBER

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4310792
Development is described of a radiation detection instrument which consists of parallel metal plates between which a number of glass tubes are inserted. Each tube is filled with a mixture of rare gases. When a strong electric current is applied to the plates immediately after the passage of a charged particle, the tubes of the trajeetory of the particle are lighted. A schematic sketch of the chamber and a block diagram of the trigger circuit are included. Applications in the study of extensive cosmic showers are discussed. (C.H.)
