EXCITED STATES OF Eu$sup 15$$sup 3$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
The BETA - decay of Sm/sup 153/ and the electron capture decay'of Gd/ sup 153/ have been studled with a NaI scintillation spectrometer, with a xenon proportional counter used with and without escape gating, and with a conversion- electron proportional counter. The two decay schemes have been verified and, in one case, extended. From a measurement of its internal conversion coefficient the 97 kev gamma in the Gd/sup 153/ decay is shown to be E1. The decay schemes and multipolarities are shown to be inconsistent with any likely spin sequence for Eu/sup 153/ and ground state spin of Gd/sup 153/ (auth)
