Kinetics of oxidation of U(IV) by nitrous acid catalyzed by ferric ions

An investigation was made of the kinetics of the oxidation of U(N) by nitrous acid in the presence of Fe/sub 3+/ ions in HNC/sub 3/ + NaNO/sub 3/ solutions with mu = 3 over the temperature range of 15.539.8 deg C. The orders of reaction with respect to the reagents and H/sup +/ ions were determined. The thermodynamic parameters of activation were calculated.
