In pursuance of a method devised by Lipps and Tolhoek, the differential cross section or bremsstrahlung is written as a sum of eight terms, each correlating the different polarizations of the electron in the intial and final states and of the emitted photon. The formulas of Bethe and Heitler and of May, Gluckstern, and others are obtained as particular cases, and discussion is also carried on as to the emission of circularly polarized photons from electrons having longtudinal and transversal spin, respectively.
