CORROSION RESISTANCE OF FIVE STAINLESS ALLOYS IN NITRIC ACID CONTAINING CHLORIDE

Journal Article · · Corrosion
A number of stainless steels and the new alloy Ni-Onel were tested in solutions 8N in nitric acid and 0.2N in chloride. Stainless steels Types 304L, 316, 309S Nb, and 329 were all resistant to the liquid and hot vapor, but only Type 329 showed good resistance to the condensing vapors from these solutions. The resistance of this steel was about 1000 times as great as that of Types 304L, 316, and 309S Nb. (auth)
