From international meeting on the technology of controlled thermonuclear fusion experiments and the engineering aspects of fusion reactors; Austin, Texas, USA (20 Nov 1972). In technology of controlled thermonuclear fusion experiments and the engineering aspects of fusion reactors. Heat removal from a controlled thermonuclear reactor (CTR) may be a key factor in the system economics. The coolant choice and coolant-system geometry can affect plant efficiency, environment impact, capital cost of the plant, and structural components. Thus, these factors should be carefully considered in a conceptual CTR design. Previous CTR studies have been made for a particular design and with a particular coolant. This paper makes a more general coolant comparison. Two generic types of coolant geometries are considered for a particular set of conditions, and the wall-loading limits for several coolants are determined. (auth)
