New arguments concerning the effective $sup 3$He quasiparticle interaction in superfluid $sup 4$He

By using the Woo-Tan--Massey theory of /sup 3/He--/sup 4/He solutions, an expression is derived for V/sub o/, the long-wavelength limit of the effective /sup 3/He quasiparticle interaction in dilute /sup 3/He-/sup 4/He solu tions. The expression supports the calculation of Eckstein, Eckstein, Kuper, and Ron, and indicates that the Baym, Bardeen, Pines result for V/sub o/ is incorrect. Arguments are also given to suggest that V/sub o/ may be positive definite at all pressures. (auth)
