THE TREATMENT OF RUTHENIUM-RICH RADIOACTIVE EFFLUENTS BY SULPHIDE PROCESSES

Journal Article · · Progr. Nuclear Energy, Ser. III, Process Chem.
OSTI ID:4304979
It has been shown that fission product ruthenium can be removed from solutions which are representative of solvent-process solutions and plant effluents sulfide, by coprecipitation of nitrosylruthenium hydrosulfide with other acid-insoluble sulfides. Alternatively, fission product ruthenium may be adsorbed by passing the fission product solution through a bed of, for example, antimony suifide. Under suitable conditions over 99% of the ruthenium can be removed by these treatments. (auth)
