The synchrotron at the P. N. Lebedev Institute of Physics, Academy of Sciences, USSR, was first put into operation in 1949. Since then many of the basic elements of this accelerator have been improved and modified; certain elements have been redesigned and rebuilt. A brief description is given of the accelerator and of the modifications which were made. (J.S.R.)
