Levels in $sup 105$Ru populated in thermal neutron capture

The /sup 104/Ru(n, gamma ) reaction was studied through singles and coincidence gamma -ray spectroscopy and angular correlation measurements. A level scheme with 34 states and spin and parity assignments for most of these was deduced from the present data and the l-values from a previous (d,p) study. The neutron binding energy was determined as 5909.9 plus or minus 0.5 keV, implying that the lowest observed (d,p) state corresponds to the 20.5 keV 5/8/sup +/ isomeric state. A comparison of the level scheme with the Nilsson scheme and the de-Shalit model with effective interactions explains the 3/2/sup +/P ground state and the 5/2/sup +/ isomeric state, but doe s not provide evidence for strong deformation of this nucleus.
