SPECTROSCOPIC INVESTIGATION OF A POWERFUL PULSED DISCHARGE IN HYDROGEN. II (in Russian)

Mirror scanning was used to investigate the spectral properties of the radiation from the hydrogen plasma in a low pressure gas discharge involving currents up to 500 ka. The temporal behavior of the dischange spectrum in the visible region may be studied by the above method. During compression of the plasma striation a flash in the continuous spectnum is observed. Results obtained by adding nitrogen and helium indicate a high electron temperature in the plasma at these moments. An estimate of the concentration of the charged particles is made on basis of broadening of the H/sub alpha / line. (tr-auth)
