COMPILATION OF AVAILABLE INFORMATION ON THE Ti-7Al-(3-4)Mo ALLOY

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4303070
The techical information available to the Titanium Metallurgical Laboratory on the Ti--7A1-- (3-4)Mo alloy as of March, 1958, is summarized. The Ti--7A1--(3-4) Mo is a relatively newly developed bar and forging alloy designed for use in elevated-temperature applications and as high-strength forgings. At present tbe alloy is being produced by The Titanium Division, Crucible Steel Company (formerly Rem-Cru Titanium, Incorporated), and has been produced in experimental quantities by Armour Research Foundation and Harvey Machine Compary. Tbe Crucible alloy, C-135AMo, is nominally Ti--7A1--4Mo and the others are Ti-- 7A1-3Mo. In general the data presented have been reproduced from the original source; however, in many cases it was considered desirable to compile or condense data, depending upon its abundance. Insofar as possible, recommended practices in production and fabrication are included, and the information presented may be considered as typical of current practice. For those areas where a diversity of opinion exists as to tbe best procedure, an effort has been made to include the different points of view. (auth)
