Microstructure of Bi-2223/Ag tapes, before and after bend strain experiments, were investigated by optical microscopy, SEM, EDS and WDS. Strain dependence of J{sub c} at various temperatures for Bi-2223/Ag tapes produced by powder in tube process are presented. Critical strain for mono-core tapes varied between 0.25% and 0.6%. Microstructural results indicate that there exist some texturing and other phases. Radial cracks were observed in the longitudinal sections of bent tape conductors. ``Wind and react`` pancake coils built from these tapes were tested. J{sub c}(T) of these coils and that of short samples with corresponding bend strain are compared.
