CORROSION EFFECTS OF A TURCO 4306-B SIMULATED FLUSH ON A 1706-KE MOCK-UP TUBE

OSTI ID:4299671
An out-of-reactor test in a mock-up tube with 25 Al clad dummies and with a Turco 4306-B flush is described. At 120 deg the flush causes no excessive corrosion (0.04 mil), but the corrosion rate was accelerated for 15 days following the flush resulting in a net overall penetration of 0.1 mil. No unusual pitting of tube or dummies was revealed by microscopic examination. Trapping of Turco in stagnant crevices does not seem to be a problem. (T.R.H.)
