The rate of the topochemical reactions with hydrogen and tritium and the effects of certain factors on the kinetic isotopic effect of these reactions were investigated. Results are given of experiments made on the isotopic effect on the rates of hydrogen and tritium reaction with Ag/sub 2/O, Cu/sub 2/O, CuO, HgO, PbO/sub 2/, and MnO/sub 2/ (these react at faster rate with hydrogen) and MqO/sub 4/, MqO/sub 3/, NiO, CoO, Fe/sub 3/O/sub 4/, and Fe/sub 2/C/sub 3/ (the latter react faster with tritium).
