A peculiarity exists in the cross section of the pi /sup -/ + p--K/sup o/ + LAMBDA /sup o/ reaction near the threshold of the reaction pi /sup -/ + p-- K/sup o/ + SIGMA /sup o/. An experimental study of this peculiarity permits one to verify the validity of various model concepts regarding the interaction between strange particles and also to determine the relative parity of LAMBDA and SIGMA -hyperons.
