THEORETICAL CALCULATION OF THE SLOW NEUTRON SCATTERING CROSS SECTION OF ETHYLENE-MOLECULE. Report No. 54/II

The scattering cross section of slow neutrons for C/sub 2/ H/sub 4/ molecules as a function of neutron energy was calculated based on the theory of Krieger and Nelkin. The theoretical curve is compared with Melkonians experimental data. In an energy interval of 0,005 to O.07 ev a very good agreement was obtained. A discrepancy for higher energies was interpreted as an influence of inelastic neutron scattering. (auth)
