The effect of oxygen concentration on the mutagenic effectiveness of x radiation was investigated in Drosophila sperm. Data are tabulated. Data are consistent with the hypothesis that there is a rejoining of broken chromosome ends and that this occurs between 30 and 40 minutes afier irradiation at anoxia. (C.H.)
