DUKE MICROWAVE LABORATORY REPORT NO. 23 FOR AUGUST 1, 1958-NOVEMBER 1, 1958

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4292470
The radical preduced by x or gamma radiation on Teflon in high vacuum is shown to have 5 F atoms with nuclear coupling to the electron spin, four with equivalent coupling of 33 gauss, and one with 92 gauss. The effects of O/sub 2/, CO, H/sub 2/, and NO on the resonance were studied. The paramagnetic resonance of irradiated single crystals of dimethyl glyoxime at 23 kMc/see and 9 kMc/sec for various orientations showed a triplet structure causod by coupling to a single N/sub 14/. The free radical preduced is probably the ionized dimethylglyoxime molecule. A brief account of work on cyclotron resonance in low- pressure flames near 24 kMc/sec is given. (See also NP-6973.)
