THE INVESTIGATION OF LIII ABSORPTION SPECTRA OF Ce IN CERIUM-ALUMINUM ALLOYS (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Fiz. Metal. i Metalloved
OSTI ID:4292186
The melting points of CeAl/sub 2/ and CeAl/sub 4/ intermetallics (1465 and 1250 deg C, respectively, and 830 deg C for Ce and 660 deg C for Al) indicate an increased strength in crystalline lattice intermolecular bonds. Investigations of Ce absorption L/sub III/ spectra show that the 6s and 5d states of the Ce atoms are the principle contributors to the interatomic bond formation in the CeAl/sub 2/ and CeAl/sub 4/ intermetallics.
