LACUNOMETER: APPARATUS FOR SEMI-AUTOMATIC MEASUREMENT OF THE AVERAGE LENGTHS AND THE SPECTRA OF GAP LENGTHS IN NUCLEAR EMULSIONS (in French)

The stage of the Koristka microscope M.S. 2 is driven by a phonograph motor. A cam moved by this motor produces electric pulses through a set of contacts. The pulses are transmitted by a morse key to a system which gives the mean value and the differential spectrum of gap lengths. The use of switching circuits and selectors enables one to build an apparatus much more simple and stable than those based on electronic devices. If the stage speed is kept at 0.4 mu m/sec, the error on mean gap length is 1 to 2% for "plateau" track, and 3 to 4% for a four time greater blob density. (auth)
