AN ABSORPTION PROCESS FOR RECOVERY OF FISSION PRODUCT NOBLE GASES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4286047
The design of a liquid absorption stripping process for removal and concentration of xenon and krypton from spent fuel processing cycles is presented. In addition, the adsorption of these gases on charcoal is reviewed. Xenon and krypton solubility in a number of solvents was determined by a modified McDaniel procedure and by radioactive tracer techniques. The rate of absorption of the noble gases appears to be liquid-film controlled and is expressed as a function of the solvent mass flow rate. (J.R.D.)
