AIRCRAFT NUCLEAR PROPULSION: FLUORIDE FUEL PREPARATION FACILITY
A description of the Fluoride Fuel Preparation Facility for the production of 250-pound units of NaFZrF₄-UF₄, NaF -ZrF₄, and NaF-UF₄ is presented. The facility consists of an arrangement of three cubicles. Cubicle No. 1 contaims equipment for weighing and mixing. Cubicles 2 and 3 contain a reactor where the mixture is treated, amd a receiver to which the purified melt is transferred for storage. The flow diagram of the system is given. (W.L.H.)
