The distribution of zirconium and hafnium in various rock samples was investigated by x-ray spectral analysis. A table gives the ZrO/sub 2/ and HfO/ sub 2/ content of the samples as well as the ZrO/sub 2/-HfO/sub 2/ ratio. This ratio is 20 to 40 in metamorphic rock and up to 112 in metasomatic rock. (W.D.M.)
