It is shown that the small-angle scattering of x rays in pressed specimens of powdered graphite, in which the crystallites have a definite orientation, is anisotropic. By taking into account the dimensions of the regions with electronic density it is concluded that the small-angle scattering is due, not to the grains of graphite, but to pores in these grains.
